Three Months Old

Dear Katelyn,
You've only been on this earth for a total of 7, 776, 000 seconds, but it feels like forever (in a good way).  I can't say it enough - you are such a good baby.  It just dawned on me that besides your content, calm nature and your ability to sleep through the night without feeding, you don't even spit up!  The only thing that could make you an absolutely perfect baby would be if your poops could smell a little more like roses and a little less like a rotting pig farm.  Try and work on that, 'mkay?

Your sleeping pattern has definitely evolved from when you were a fresh newborn.  You didn't need or want to be swaddled.  You just fell asleep wherever, whenever.  Now, you don't neccessarily want to be swaddled, but you definitely need to be.  And it doesn't matter how tightly I wrap you, you always find a way to bust out your right arm, flail it around and inevitably smack yourself in the face.  Your latest trick is to pull your blanket up and over your face when you're in your lounger and are ready to sleep.  It's like you're playing peek-a-boo only you have no concept of what a game is.

You love to talk, except you say the same thing over and over..."ah goo", but you say it with such fervor and determination that we know you are telling us something very important.  You have also taken to blowing spit bubbles and drooling.  It makes us wonder whether you are already starting to teethe?

You are still loving your baths...you love to kick and splash your arms.  You also love to stare at the taps...methinks you might be part magpie what with your attraction to shiny objects.  You no longer fit into 3 month clothes, but it's not because of being chubby (I can actually see your ab muscles!).  You are a very long baby!

It is an absolute joy watching you discover your hands.  Just tonight, you reached out and grabbed at the mirror/spinny/clicky toy and I swear your eyes widened in delight as your amazing brain made the connection that those little five fingered appendages that flail around your head can actually do something more than fit in your mouth!

Love Mommy

A wee tiny ponytail!

The only smile of the photo session!

Right from the start, my motto was, "President...NOT Princess!" but oh dear god this headband is just TOO CUTE!

  1. Oh, Jyl, she is just so sweet and adorable! We can't wait to meet her next month. Let me tell you the secret to swaddling, I wish these existed when we had the boys. www.woombie.com they are the biggest lifesaver. Snug as a bug, but not crushed into submission. They can still move their arms and legs but nothing can escape and flail around! BEST. INVENTION. EVER!
