On the Saturday, there will be a supper at our house. Nothing big. Nothing fancy. Not many people. Just food, cake and the viewing of Kat's one year slide show. However, I'm sure that my family is expecting the opposite (given the flare with which I threw my 30th birthday party...a Hollywood costume party complete with a red carpet, Oscars, celebrities and free cocaine in the bathroom (aka icing sugar) and a Louis Vuitton purse cake).
This is the email I sent them tonight:
Hello All,
I just wanted to send out notice in advance that there will be a supper on Saturday, January 15th in celebration of Kat turning 365 days old. The get together will be fairly low-key. The circus performers are arriving at 1:00pm to set up, so the party should get going around 3:00pm or so (unless, of course, the parade is late getting lined up). In any case, we should be set to watch the fireworks display around 8:00pm. After that, we should be waiting inside for the Queen's telephone call.
As for gifts, I have registered with some simple stores as to what Kat would like. Again, nothing expensive. If you go to the Tiffany's or Louis Vuitton website, you'll see they have an entire selection menu set up just for Kat. Choose whichever gift you like.
Your official, gold-encrusted invitation should be delivered sometime early next week. Instead of using Canada Post, I figured it would be cheaper to hire Celine Dion to personally hand out the invites.
Regards,
Kat's Mom
HA! Great idea with Dion, I hear she it doing Bat Mitvahs these days. Wow, I am still in awe of the babies turning one, in fact, it's more like denial. Considering all the things that have changed in the last year it seems like a lifetime though. I had a little talk with Everly the other day while were in the shower, I asked her to stay the same just a little longer...
