Six Degrees of Separation (Updated)

It's no secret that Joel has an infinite love for all things Hollywood, celebrity and movies.  At the young age of nine, his knowledge of actors and actresses far surpassed anything my brain could hold.  The defining moment was when he knew that Johnny Depp had a walk-on, non-speaking role in some obscure movie.  I didn't believe Joel and made him an outrageous bet (that I would buy him 5000 movies) that he was wrong.  I'm currently trying to pay off that debt :)

Given Joel's disabilities, the opportunities in his life are not many.  So, we foster this love of movies until we are blue in the face.  It is tiring some days :)  About a year ago, I made a video showing Joel's game of "Six Degrees of Separation".  If you say to Joel, "Harrison Ford", he will list as many movies that he can think of that Harrison was in.  From that list, you pick another movie.  Let's say, "Working Girl".  Joel will then list as many actors from that show that he can remember.  Then, you pick one of those actors...let's go with Joan Cusack.  He then goes on to list all of her movies.  And this game goes on and on and on.  And on.  Forever.  And he LOVES it.

People who meet Joel are blown away by his movie knowledge.  Shortly after making the video, I figured I would send it to a certain talk show.  Some time went by and I didn't hear anything back.  I know this lady is very busy, but I figured it was worth a shot.  About a month ago, we finally got a response.  Because of confidentiality agreements, I can't quite say who, but I can say that she is a very funny, blond lady who loves to dance.  And I can't say what but I can say one of her assistants/representatives will be flying up her in June to see Joel for himself and "test" out the authenticity of Joel's video.

I'm trying to not get too excited, but what an opportunity this could be for Joel.  I'm not gonna lie...I'm excited for myself too :)

* Update:  I don't know why, but I really, really feel guilty saying this, but....."April Fool's Day!"...just about the last part though.  Nobody from Ellen's show is coming up here, but we did submit a tape of him.  It could still be a possibility someday :)  Sorry for fooling you guys :)
