Five On Friday

Lots of the other blogs I follow seem to be doing a Five On Friday theme. I would link up with them if I knew how to get those fancy buttons they all seem to have, but alas, I don't know how.  Instead, I suggest you just click on their links on the right hand side and see what they're up to :)  Here's my five bits of randomness for Friday:

1) New Year's Eve was a quiet affair around these parts.  Mike worked the night shift so it was just me and the kiddos.  The Littles were in bed by eight o'clock, so I plopped down on the couch with a paralyzer (or two) and watched Dick Clark's New Year's Eve countdown.  I made it to 10:00pm before I zonked out and hit the sheets.  Party animal...I am not.

2) Thrive has really helped me with my PMS (or Pre-menstrual Dysphoric Disorder as I suspect I have).  I'm much calmer, not as moody, no crazy thoughts of divorce or suicide.  I'm on a waiting list to get an IUD which is supposed to help with PMS, but I don't think I'll get it now.  Don't want to rock this magical boat that I'm on!!

3) Miss K's fifth birthday is coming up quick and she keeps changing her mind as to what she wants the theme to be.  We've gone through Minecraft, Princess Peach (NOT Mario Brothers lol) and Frozen.  Since I found Frozen themed party supplies first, a Frozen party it is!  Miss K is excited to have TWO parties this year...one with the adults (on her actual bday) and one with kids (the following Saturday).  This is the first year we are doing a kids' party for her so we'll see how that goes.  It's going to be at the bowling alley and she gets to invite nine kids (each bowling lane can have five bowlers so we decided nine plus herself is a good number).  Each night at bed, she lists off who she wants to invite.  It changes each night so hammering down a final list could prove to be difficult :)

4) The time has come to register Andrew for pre-school and I'm worried that, come September, he's not going to be ready for it.  If his speech doesn't improve, his teachers are going to have a heck of a time understanding him and there will likely be lots of meltdowns from Mr. A due to frustration (as he does now).  Also, the kids have to be fully potty trained and we haven't even thought about starting that around here (again, because we can't communicate with him effectively).  I suppose I will register him anyways and we can always withdraw him in August if we don't think he's ready.

5) As Christmas break draws to a close, I'm excited to get back to subbing.  I didn't do much subbing these last few months due to my depression.  Now? I'm ready to rock the classrooms.  And my closet.  And my new boots.  It'll be nice to get out of the house and make some new connections.  Plus the regular paycheques will be a bonus around here.  I'd love to be able to finally get myself a vehicle that's all mine.  The last three "big" purchases have all been Mike's...a quad, a sled and the wheelchair van.  Granted, the wheelchair van wasn't a purchase made by us (we were given it through President's Choice and the Kinsmen), but I still consider it to be Mike's.  Also, I hate grocery shopping in it as you have to extend the ramp to access the back of the van which is a total pain in the rear. What was I talking about? Oh, right...subbing.  I'm really looking forward to it :)

There you have it...Five on Friday.  Don't forget to check out the other blogs! Happy Friday, y'all!

  1. I love being lazy on those "important" nights. Makes me feel rebelious. Also? Just copy/paste the button into your post then add a link.,...which is the complicated part, kinda.
