Lowlights
> the fact that Mike and I didn't go on one single road trip. In fact, the last road trip we were on was our honeymoon and that was a year and a half ago! We are long overdue!
> the fact that Joel needed another surgery on his tendons. While this surgery was minor in comparison to his first one, it was still a difficult procedure for all of us to go through. On the bright side, it was only one leg and a cast that only went up to his knee (as compared to both legs with casts up to his waist like in 2004).
> the number of times I ended up being sick this year. I guess given the environment that I work in, that is to be expected. But it use to be that I would get the sniffles for a day or two and then the virus would pass, without ever rearing it's ugly head. This year, I contracted everything and anything that came my way and most of the time, it knocked me flat on my butt.
> weight gain. I'm all of about two pounds away from being back to my highest weight ever (back in 2002, I hit my all time high). It's no one's fault but my own that I am in this position and it's up to me to get out of it. Enough said.
> the continued downward spiral of a certain relationship (I can't mention with whom, but most importantly, it's not Mike!) largely due to my perception of the way things are handled. But my perception is shaped by past interactions with this person and until I discuss these past events with said person, my perception of the intentions behind this person's actions and words will continue to be of a negative nature...wow! That's a mouthful!
Highlights
> celebrating both of my parents' retirements in the same year> celebrating my Dad's 60th birthday...he is waaaaay too young to be 60 already!
> being there the night my Dad was inducted into the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame
> having my parents think I am responsible enough to manage all their property when they go away on holidays
> repainting the outside of our house. There are very, very few things left inside this place that belonged to or were the handiwork of the previous owners. We've almost completely renovated the entire house! The yard transformation will be complete this year!
> as per usual, the big family get together up at Little Bear Lake (with my sister and her two boys)
> finding out that Colby likes my recipe for Cheeseburger Pie more than he likes perogies (and this kid has loved perogies since he could eat solid food!)
> becoming the proud owner of the BEST dog in the world!
> being on the receiving end of all of my mom's teaching resources...thanks Mom!
> the increase in the number of dates that Mike and I had this year
> the fact that mine and Mike's relationship gets better and better with each passing year
So, the positives definitely outweigh the negatives which is always a good thing. I always find it interesting to compare whether the negatives (that are able to be dealt with and are not just a single event) carry over into the following year. Stay tuned for New Year's Post #3...
It's nice to see that there were far more hightlights than lowlights this year. I am sure enjoying your blog and look forward to Mikes' newyears post as well. :-)
