I Need Your Input

If you and your children could travel anywhere for one week to ten days, where would you go? Mike and the kids and I want to take a trip in February but can't decide where to go.  We put Disneyland on the table, but Miss K would rather go to Lego Land.  Last night, I started putting together a trip that would include Lego Land, SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo. I was getting excited about it, but wondered whether we should be doing Disney instead.

Then I started thinking about an all-inclusive resort somewhere.  We'd love to go to Atlantis Bahamas, but it looked pretty expensive. So tell me…where would you go with a 7 year old and a 4 year old? Thanks in advance!

  1. Truthfully I would do Disneyland. Lego land, according to multiple friends, is no great shakes and super expensive even with the 2 for 1 coupons from the Lego magazine. They all reported a lot of out of order rides and generally just run down stuff. Disney - while expensive - you st least know what you are getting and that is top notch quality. We've been twice - once before the kids and once last year when they were 9&5 1/2. We've travelled other places with them fairly often and here's my tip: one day on followed by a day off (where nothing is planned and more relaxed of a schedule - ie: beach day) Also a 3 day park hopper pass in my opinion is just right for kids their age. 1 day at Disney, 1 day at California adventure and 1 day doing your favorited from both. My kids would have been fried by a 4 day pass - Palmer even conceded. No selfie sticks allowed in the park and bring an umbrella stroller ... éloise spent a decent amount of time in ours and it made getting around the park faster a breeze and they have plenty of stroller parking which is nice. Just my two cents. We stayed at the Annabella hotel both times because we love Miguel, one of the servers at their restaurant, the tangerine grill. By far, some of the best food near the park - we shared a lot of meals for the kids and even Shane and I because portions are quite large - especially since we love trying new starters. We tried to go on two big meals a day (breakfast and supper) and a smaller lunch in the park as it gets costly but on the Main Street leading into the park where there is lots of shopping there are some great restaurants (like tortilla joes) that make it easy enough to leave the park for a meal and go back in so long as you get stamped. I wrote a bunch of blog posts about our time last August if you want to read more.

  2. You'll be disappointed that you're not going to Disney. Lego land is kind of meh.
